Webcom to Expand Deployment of ObjectPublisher
Web Services
Seattle, Friday, September 10, 2004:
Object Publishing Software announces that Webcom Limited, a Toronto-based
print services company, is accelerating its addition of new customers and increasing
the breadth and depth of its solutions based on Catalog-on-Demand™
and other ObjectPublisher® Web Services.
Webcom Limited is a full-service book manufacturer
that has worked with publishers of all kinds to become one of North
America's leading printers. Object Publishing Software hosts the
Web services that Webcom configures in the context of a full-service
publishing company. This arrangement allows Webcom to offer web-centric
content management, 100% automation of custom catalogs, and complete
digital print and web-offset print manufacturing capabilities in
one end-to-end solution.
Said another way, this equates to lifecycle management
of attribute-rich product data, from data entry through automatic
formatting of the data for any selected mix of products,
to a fully published print catalog. Where ObjectPublisher Web Services
end by delivering automated catalogs as a PDF or QuarkXPress file,
WebCom completes by putting softbound books into a customer's hands.
Webcom has found even more value to add. As a
customer service-driven organization, Webcom offers customization
of the standard ObjectPublisher Web, CD, or print publications templates
that format data and define layout. It can private-label the "skins"
of the Web services interfaces to provide an in-house look and feel.
And depending on the customer's needs, Webcom can completely take
over the content management.
This partnership enhances Webcom’s commitment
to delivering complete, single-source publishing solutions to its
customers, and it puts a friendly store front on core publishing
technology. ObjectPublisher's Web services become nearly
invisible in the context of a successful integrator.
Marlin Doner, the strategist for this partnership
at Webcom Limited, says "Catalogs and directories have long
been a cornerstone of Webcom’s printing business, and the
ObjectPublisher Web Services solutions have allowed us to move upstream
in the kinds of services that we provide to our customers. We are
impressed with the innovation and the quality of support we have
received from Object Publishing as we continue to move forward with
these exciting new business opportunities. "
Tim Hennings, president of Object Publishing
Software, commented that "We are very pleased by Webcom’s
business success with Catalog-on-Demand and other ObjectPublisher
Web Services components. They have a long tradition of excellence
in catalog publishing. We are fully committed to helping Webcom
enhance their reputation and develop new revenue opportunities by
supporting them with the best and most reliable technology to be
found anywhere in the world."
